Asking your Lodger to Leave Letters

Asking your Lodger to Leave Letters

Most lodger arrangements end amicably, but occasionally there are problems and you may have to write to your lodger formally asking them to leave.  In this guide we provide sample wording for seven letters, including short initial letters, more strongly worded letters if the situation does not improve, and finally three letters you can use if you need to formally ask your lodger to leave.
The draft letters include letters where lodgers have been playing loud music, behaving badly and where they have failed to pay the rent.
We have provided the text of letters rather than pdf letter documents as the drafts will need to be amended to suit your particuar circustances.  However guidance is given and the letters provide different wording options for you to use.
This guide should be read in conjunction with the guidance given in the ‘Ending’ section of our free Lodger Landlord website.
